“As drilling moves into late August and September there will be a desire from growers for vigorous varieties - and that is most readily achieved through growing hybrids,” notes Tom Nickerson of breeders agents Ebbage Seeds. “Wembley has one of the highest autumn vigour scores and will provide comfort for those in later drilling situations.
“This high vigour is in addition to its yield performance where Wembley continues to perform consistently, and now sits joint top of the gross output table in the latest 2012-15 mean RL trial results.
“The variety is also once again in the top 3 for the 2015 RL trials results, highlighting the variety’s consistent ability to perform year after year,”
“When we add in its excellent agronomic profile with strong Stem Canker and Light Leaf Spot scores, a double ‘7’ for flowering and maturity, and a double ‘8’ for stem stiffness and resistance to lodging, Wembley is clearly in the premier league,” adds Tom Nickerson.
