“We have already seen many growers wanting to drill early to guard against cabbage stem flea beetle, so these early trials results will give them confidence in their choice of variety,” comments Theo Labuda, Managing Director of LS Plant Breeding Ltd (LSPB).
“Wembley is looking good, and by topping the 2017 RL results table so far, the variety is living up to its reputation for consistency over seasons.”
Wembley is well on track for its third year of AHDB Recommendation for the East/West region, and its excellent performance in RL trials results published so far adds to its reputation. (click on the graphic (right) to view the results in a new window)
It is a restored hybrid giving good autumn vigour and spring vigour. Added to that it has good agronomic characteristics with high stem stiffness, high resistance to lodging, good resistance to light leaf spot and stem canker - and an early flowering time.
“Wembley's high oil content and treated seed yield add together to bring growers the consistently high gross output we see once again in 2017,” adds Mr Labuda.
