Are you looking for summer agricultural work in the Cambridge area? Get in touch with us today!
We are looking for enthusiastic and hardworking individuals to join our harvest team for Summer 2024. These roles are for full time staff to assist in all aspects of harvest and drilling work. Experience is not essential, and necessary training will be provided. The minimum age for applicants is 18 years old.

Who are we?
LSPB are a UK plant breeding company, wholly owned by German breeder NPZ-Lembke. We are leaders in the spring field bean market, as well as having competitive oilseed rape varieties, all of which help the UK farmer to maximise their yield. We have a wheat breeding program in its early stages, along with winter bean and spring combinable pea varieties on the market or near market. Finally, we breed spring barley varieties on behalf of another major breeder.

Location
Based near to Impington on Milton Road, just north of Cambridge. The site is easily accessed from the A14, as well as being a short cycle to Cambridge city centre and just over 1 mile from Milton road park and ride.

Duties
Harvest work will involve all crop species as well as preparation and planting of winter beans, winter wheat, winter barley and oilseed rape, working alongside both permanent and temporary staff. Duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Rogueing off types in nursery.
  • Hand harvesting of selected plants and rows
  • Threshing plants and cleaning seed of selected lines
  • Assistance with combine plot harvest
  • Weighing and sampling seed for analysis and replanting

The nature of the tasks means work will include, at times, physically demanding tasks, outdoors in all conditions. Appropriate PPE will be provided for work in dusty and noisy environments.

We have several temporary positions available within the period July to September.

Standard hours are Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.30pm with a lunch break. Overtime is available in the evenings and weekends.

Pay
Pay will be based on candidate’s experience, with very good rates overtime for hours worked over 40 hours per week.
